The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is conducting a pilot of a Transit Working Group during calendar years 2020 and 2021. This working group pilot is intended to help the MPO improve coordination among transit providers in the Boston region and represent transit more fully in MPO activities and decisions. MPO staff have asked transit providers and organizations that support transit service in the Boston region to participate. These entities include, but are not limited to, regional transit authorities, transportation management associations, municipalities that operate transit services, and state transportation agencies. Advocacy groups and members of the public are welcome to attend working group meetings.
Transit Working Group meetings may include (1) group discussion of transit-related topics, concerns, and solutions; (2) information sharing among transit providers; (3) presentations by MPO staff about the MPO’s transit-related activities and decisions; and/or (4) discussions about the pilot’s progress. Transit Working Group meeting formats and content may evolve in response to participant feedback and lessons learned during the pilot.
