Bicycle-Pedestrian Count Program - Screen Line

Home » Our Work » Livability

A great way to count the number of bicyclists and pedestrians is to visualize a "screen line.” A screen line is an imaginary line that a counter draws across a path or roadway. Pedestrians and cyclists are counted when they cross this line. Counts are conducted in 15-minute intervals, and comprise the total volume of pedestrians and bicyclists traveling in both directions past a given point.
