Boston Region MPO COVID-19 Response

Despite challenges presented by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, the Boston Region MPO remains committed to conducting the federally required metropolitan transportation planning process for the Boston region.

Members of MPO staff will work from home until further notice but are available to stakeholders, agency partners, and the public via their usual email addresses and phone extensions. MPO board and committee meetings will be held virtually until further notice, and MPO staff will make every effort to assist members of the public who wish to attend or provide public comment at virtual meetings. MPO staff will continue to send updates regarding any changes to these plans. To ensure that you receive updates related to meeting notices or cancelations, check your preferences to make sure you are subscribed to "MPO meeting reminders," and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. If you have questions about meeting logistics, please check the MPO meeting calendar or contact MPO staff.

Notice of availability of a program of technical assistance described in following text

MPO staff are offering technical assistance related to COVID-19 transit service planning. Local transit operators such as Regional Transit Authorities, transportation management associations (TMAs), municipalities, and Councils on Aging (COAs) are encouraged to apply. To qualify, transit services provided by the applicant should be open to the public. Contact Paul Christner, MPO Staff, at 857.702.3656 or with a short description of the type of assistance needed. Project ideas are requested by July 31, 2020 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Essential Trips: A COVID-19 Response Discussion for Local Transit Providers

Local transportation providers, such as COAs, operators of municipal shuttle programs, and TMAs, are lifelines for many in the Boston region. The impact of COVID-19 on these essential services has been widespread. On May 12, 2020, the Boston Region MPO hosted a discussion dedicated to the needs of these transportation providers in the Boston region. The event recording and notes on the discussion are now available.
