Posted 1/16 The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategy Alternatives: Cost-Effectiveness Analysis report provides information about various transportation strategies that support reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This report summarizes ongoing work that will help the Boston Region MPO make informed decisions when prioritizing and funding projects, programs, and studies to reduce GHG emissions. It also discusses next steps that the MPO can take to include GHG reduction as part of its decision-making process.

The report includes a literature review and research that could yield information on GHG impacts and costs of implementing various reduction strategies across all transportation modes. In addition, MPO staff inventoried past and current MPO programming within the context of these strategies and quantified the projected GHG impacts using various tools. MPO staff then calculated the cost-effectiveness of each transportation strategy and identified those strategies that are most effective at reducing GHG emissions.
