The MPO has produced or contributed to feasibility studies for many rail trails:
  • Minuteman Bikeway
  • Lowell–Sudbury Rail Trail, now known as the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail
  • Bike-to-the-Sea Trail, now referred to as the Northern Strand Community Trail
  • Assabet River Rail Trail
  • Central Mass. Trail, now referred to as Mass. Central Rail Trail
  • Saxonville Branch, called the Cochituate Trail
  • Stoneham Bikeway
  • Watertown Branch Rail Trail
  • Southern portion of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in Sudbury and Framingham
It has also conducted the following bicycle and pedestrian studies:
