Paths to a Sustainable Region – Outreach
OVERVIEWOUTREACHMATERIALS

Updated on 9/27/11

Outreach for Paths to a Sustainable Region promoted meaningful involvement by the public at all stages of its development. The process gave the public the integral role it should have and brought valuable ideas to the MPO for their consideration. Appendix A of the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) contains a summary of the feedback and formal comments sent by the public to the MPO.

Outreach Objectives:

  • Engage the public during all phases of LRTP development
  • Provide a convenient means for the public to provide input and feedback to the MPO during LRTP development
  • Recruit individuals and groups that have not traditionally been involved in the regional transportation planning process or have been less engaged in the past to participate in the development of the LRTP
  • Utilize new avenues of communication
  • Provide public feedback to the MPO in a timely manner so that it may be considered during deliberations and decision making

Outreach Tools:

  • MPOInfo – The MPO’s one-way e-mail listserve was used to periodically distribute updates. Sign up by sending an e-mail to publicinformation@bostonmpo.org with “MPO Info” in the subject line.
  • TRANSREPORT – The MPO’s monthly newsletter is another important source of information about the LRTP. Sign up for a free subscription by sending an e-mail to publicinformation@bostonmpo.org with “TransReport” in the subject line.
